About Hangman
A word is concealed and letters are proposed one at a time, with eight incorrect guesses allowed before the round is lost — here a snowman melts by stages in place of the traditional figure. Choosing a category such as animals, food or countries narrows the field considerably, which turns the game into a study of letter frequency and word shape. Sound play means opening with the common vowels and consonants, then reading the pattern that emerges for likely endings rather than guessing on instinct. Consecutive solves build a streak.
How to Play
Choose a category, then select letters from the on-screen keyboard or type them. A correct letter fills every position in which it occurs. Eight incorrect guesses end the round.
💡 Tips & Strategy
Open with vowels, but not all of them. E and A appear in most words, and one or two vowels are usually enough to reveal the shape; spending four guesses on vowels leaves you too few for the consonants that actually identify the word.
Then go after the common consonants in rough order: R, S, T, N, L, C. These carry the most information per guess, and a letter that appears twice is worth double.
Use the pattern rather than the frequency once letters appear. A word ending in a doubled letter suggests endings like LL, SS or EE; a three-letter word with a vowel in the middle has very few possibilities. The shape narrows things faster than the alphabet does.
Let the category steer you. Once you know the theme, the vocabulary shrinks enormously, and a letter that is rare in English generally may be common within that category.
