About Hive Words
A honeycomb holds seven letters, one of them fixed in the middle and compulsory. Every answer must run to at least four letters and must contain that central letter; the outer six may be used as often as a word requires. Scores rise steeply with length, and the word that uses all seven carries a substantial bonus. The difference between a fair round and a good one is method: strong solvers run the centre letter against common prefixes and endings in turn, rather than waiting for words to present themselves.
How to Play
Enter answers of at least four letters, drawn only from the seven on show. The centre letter must appear in every word, and letters may be reused. Length is rewarded, and a word using all seven letters scores a bonus. Climb the ranks towards Genius.
💡 Tips & Strategy
Find the pangram early. The word using every letter is worth the most and often reveals the shape of the whole puzzle, so look for familiar prefixes and suffixes among the letters before you start hunting short words.
Sweep the centre letter against each other letter in turn. Every answer must contain it, so pairing it systematically is far more productive than staring at the arrangement.
Mine each word you find. Check whether it accepts an S, an ING or an ER, and whether removing a letter leaves another valid word — families of related words build a score quickly.
Remember letters may repeat in this format. Words like LEVEL or ALLOY are legal even though the letter appears once in the hive, which is where most missed answers hide.
