🔢 2048
🧩 Logic · 1 plays2048
Merge matching numbers on a small grid and work your way up to the 2048 tile.
About 2048
Every move slides all the tiles on a four-by-four grid to one side, and two tiles of equal value that meet combine into their sum. Two becomes four, four becomes eight, and the doubling continues towards 2048. A fresh tile appears after each move, so the board fills steadily whenever moves are made without purpose, and the game ends when nothing can slide or merge. Experienced players anchor their largest tile in a corner, build a descending run along that edge and avoid the one direction that would dislodge it.
How to Play
Press the arrow keys, or swipe, to slide every tile in one direction. Tiles of equal value merge on contact and their values are added. The game ends when the grid is full and no merge remains.
💡 Tips & Strategy
One discipline decides the game: choose a corner, keep your largest tile there, and never move it. Commit to using only three directions — for a bottom-left anchor that means never swiping right unless the board leaves you no choice.
Build a descending chain from that corner. Largest tile in the corner, next largest beside it, tailing off along the bottom row and doubling back along the row above. When a merge runs down the chain it cascades, and a single swipe can resolve three or four merges at once.
Keep the anchor row full at all times. A complete bottom row makes your one forbidden direction safe on the turn you are eventually forced into it, which is the difference between a recoverable board and a dead one.
Slow down as the board fills. Most games end not at 2048 but at move two hundred, to a careless swipe made on autopilot — count what each direction will actually do before you commit.
