About Jigsaw Puzzle
A scene is cut into interlocking pieces and rebuilt on the board. The work is pattern recognition at close range — the shape of a tab, a gradient of colour, the direction a line takes as it crosses from one piece to the next — and it repays a method: the frame first, then the areas of distinct colour, then the uniform stretches of sky or water that everyone leaves until last. A new image is drawn each time, and the cut ranges from nine pieces to sixty-four. Progress is stored, so a large puzzle can be set aside and resumed.
How to Play
Choose a piece count, from three-by-three up to eight-by-eight. Drag a piece close to its correct position and it settles into place. The preview button shows the finished image whenever you want it.
💡 Tips & Strategy
Do the edges first. Flat-sided pieces form a frame that fixes the scale and position of everything else, and it converts an open problem into a bounded one.
Sort by colour and pattern rather than by shape. Grouping pieces into piles by what they show reduces each search from the whole set to a handful, and shape only matters once you are placing within a group.
Work from distinct features inward. Anything with a sharp boundary — a horizon, an edge of a building, a strong colour change — assembles quickly and gives you anchors that large areas of similar colour can hang from.
Save the uniform regions for last, and place them by shape. When colour tells you nothing, the outline is the only information left, and by then the surrounding pieces have narrowed the gaps considerably.
