Water Sort

Pour between tubes until each one holds a single colour.

About Water Sort

Tubes hold stacked bands of coloured liquid, and the task is to separate them so that each tube ends up holding one colour only. A pour is legal onto an empty tube or onto the same colour, and the whole contiguous top band moves as a unit, which is what makes this a planning exercise rather than a tidying one. Empty tubes are the scarce resource: fill one carelessly at the start and the position locks several moves later. Early levels use three colours and later ones as many as a dozen, while undo has no limit, so a line of play can be tested and then withdrawn.

How to Play

Tap a tube to select it, then tap a second tube to pour. Only a matching colour on top, or empty space, will accept a pour. The level is finished when every tube holds a single colour.

💡 Tips & Strategy

Every move should either complete a colour or free up a tube. Pouring simply because the colours match tends to spread one colour across several tubes, which quietly costs you the empty space you will need later. If a pour does not bring a colour closer to being whole or open a tube up, look for a better one.

Empty tubes are the scarcest resource, so spend them deliberately. Use one to unstack a tube whose buried colours you need, rather than as a convenient dumping ground for an odd single. Once every tube holds a mixture, a puzzle that was comfortable becomes unsolvable.

Pour the larger run onto the smaller one where you have a choice. Moving three matching units onto one leaves a complete tube and an empty; the reverse leaves you two partial tubes and no progress at all.

Before a long sequence, look at what sits directly beneath the top layers. The colour under the one you are about to move decides whether the tube becomes useful or just differently blocked, and planning two layers deep prevents most dead ends.
