About Tic Tac Toe
Tic Tac Toe is completely solved — two players who know what they are doing will draw every single game, and the interest lies entirely in the mistakes. The centre is the strongest opening square and a corner reply is the only one that holds; take an edge in answer to a centre and you have already lost. Wins come from forks, positions where two lines of three threaten at once so the single available block cannot cover both. On the easier setting the computer will occasionally give you one of those; on the harder setting it plays the perfect game, and a draw is the honest result.
How to Play
Choose a square to place your mark; the computer replies. A line of three, horizontal, vertical or diagonal, takes the game. Switch between the two difficulty settings at any point. Results are kept across rounds.
💡 Tips & Strategy
The game is a draw with correct play, so winning means waiting for a mistake and never making one yourself. Take the centre if it is free; it belongs to four of the eight winning lines.
As the first player, a corner opening gives an opponent the most chances to go wrong — only the centre reply saves them. If they answer on an edge, you can force a win.
Play for the fork. Creating two lines of two at once cannot be blocked, and every forced win at this game comes from a fork rather than a single threat.
When defending, block the immediate threat first and only then think about your own. Most losses are from taking a tempting square while your opponent completes their line.
