Thirty-five cards, no wraparound, and Kings that stop a run dead.
About Golf Solitaire
Golf sets seven columns of five face-up cards above a waste pile, and an exposed card may be taken whenever its rank sits immediately beside the waste card, whether that is a step up or a step down. Unlike TriPeaks the ranks do not wrap: nothing can be played onto a King, and only a Two follows an Ace, which makes both ends of the scale genuinely dangerous. Because every card is visible, the game is a short exercise in reading ahead — count how many cards of each rank are still buried before committing to a direction. Full clears are uncommon, so scoring by cards remaining is the fairer measure of a round.
How to Play
Take any bottom card whose rank neighbours the waste card, so a 7 or a 9 follows an 8. Ranks do not wrap: a King ends a run and an Ace accepts only a Two. Turn the stock for a new waste card when the columns offer nothing.
💡 Tips & Strategy
Plan the whole run before you take the first card. Since play is a single ascending or descending chain, the order you remove cards decides how far the run extends — and a card taken out of sequence can strand the three beneath it.
Watch for wrapping. In this version nothing plays on a king except a queen, and an ace only accepts a two, so a chain that reaches an extreme has nowhere to go. Keep an eye on when your run is heading towards a dead end.
Prefer removals that expose new columns to ones that dig deeper into a single column. Breadth keeps your options alive; depth gives you one long run and then nothing.
When two cards are equally playable, take the one whose neighbour in the tableau continues the sequence. It is the difference between a two-card move and a six-card cascade.
